Keeping Misery Company by Michelle Larks.
Ms. Larks presents with a Christian fiction that does not attempt to sway a person this way or that; instead her writing serves as a tool of testimony to strengthen and or reinforce a person’s spirituality.
Ruth Wilson is a middle aged woman who is going through menopause; but quickly finds that her body is not the only thing going through “the change”. Ruth’s husband Daniel of thirty five years decides that he no longer wants to be married to her and asks for a divorce.
After the initial shock, Ruth decides to let go and let God. She searches her spiritual self and discovers that there are some things in her life that she has to make right. Number one is to reconnect with her older brother. Sadly when she finds him; he is at the last stages of HIV. Instead of dwelling on the breakup of her marriage; she focuses on giving her brother the best quality of life that she can and while doing so she mends a terrible ridge between her brother and parents.
Daniel is so focused on his new life and his new woman that he is oblivious to the destruction that his decision and deceit has caused his family. As the old saying goes; all good things must come to an end and so does his so called perfect life.
What a wonderful read. It provided an interesting story all the while fortifying the fact that God is in everything that we do. Thank you to Ms. Larks for highlighting God’s merciful love.
